Agricultural Produce Market Committee, Gadchiroli

The first notification of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee Gadchiroli was published in the Nagpur Gazette on 12 June 1961 by Hon. D. H. Deshmukh, Commissioner, Nagpur Division. Accordingly, Hon. District Collector Ramkrishna Chanda published a notification in the Gazette on 23 October 1961 stating that a market committee was established comprising a total of 26 villages as mentioned in the gazette. Hon. Director of Agriculture Marketing and Rural Finance, Maharashtra State, Pune, notified the actual functioning of the market committee in Gadchiroli by a notification dated 28 November 1970.

Hon. The District Sub-Registrar Cooperative Society, Gadchiroli, on February 4, 1999, in the Maharashtra Government Gazette, divided the Gadchiroli Market Committee into two separate committees, Gadchiroli Market Committee, comprising a total of 353 villages, 126 in Gadchiroli taluka and 227 in Dhanora taluka, and another market committee, Chamorshi, comprising 274 villages in Chamorshi and Mulchera taluka, and an independent Chamorshi Market Committee, comprising a total of 274 villages in Chamorshi and Mulchera taluka.

Paddy is the primary agricultural produce within the jurisdiction of the Gadchiroli Market Committee. While Gadchiroli Taluka falls under a non-tribal area, Dhanora Taluka is entirely a tribal area; in the latter, the purchase and sale of produce take place under the government's Minimum Support Price (MSP) scheme through 12 procurement centers (9 + 3) operated by 'Various Executive Service Cooperative Societies' under the Tribal Development Corporation. Similarly, in the non-tribal area of ​​Gadchiroli Taluka, produce is procured through three government MSP procurement centers overseen by the District Marketing Officer, Gadchiroli. Additionally, 'A-grade' paddy is traded by merchants in the open market.

For the year 2025-2026, licenses were issued by the Market Committee as follows: 204 merchant renewals, 26 new merchants, 4 commission agent renewals, 14 processing unit renewals, 4 new processing units, 1 warehouse operator, 1 godown owner, and 13 hamals (laborers). In 2025-2026, the Market Committee recorded an income of ₹1,40,60,921.00, an expenditure of ₹1,21,15,380.70, and a surplus of ₹18,92,540.30.

In the year 2024-2025, 1,07,232.16 quintals of paddy worth ₹25,30,22,498.00 were procured through the Tribal Development Corporation, while 37,346.60 quintals worth ₹8,75,74,763.00 were procured under the supervision of the District Marketing Officer, Gadchiroli.

Additionally, in the open market, purchases amounting to 3,32,160.00 quintals have been made through traders, with a total value of ₹84,70,09,800/-.
